Square pillow form, your choice of size
Black felt yardage to cover pillow form
Craft felt: hot pink, lavender, turquoise, lime green, orange
Embroidery floss, your choice of colors to coordinate
Embroidery needle
Scissors
Yardstick or ruler
Pencil
Straight pins
Instructions:
Measure and cut out two black felt squares 1” larger than pillow measurement.
Print flower pattern. Cut out. Trace and cut out one of each craft felt color. Place flowers on pillow as shown. Pin in place to hold.
Using coordinating floss colors, blanket stitch around each flower.
On top of each flower, stack two or three flower buttons in different shapes and colors. Stitch each stack in place through buttonholes.
Add decorative stitches as shown:
on each large flower petal, 3 straight stitches and 5 French knots
on flower buttons, short straight stitches, French knots or blanket stitch
around large flowers, sprinkling of French knots
Pin pillow top to remaining black felt square. Blanket stitch three sides together. Change floss color every 20 stitches. Place pillow form inside. Blanket stitch last side closed.
Tips:
Refer to photo for placement.
To make a French knot: bring needle and floss all the way up through the garment. Using the floss at the surface of the garment, wrap around needle three times. Stitch back through garment very close to point where floss originally came up. Pull floss snugly.
