  • La Petite Buttons: #269 (6 cards)
  • Woven placemats and napkins set
  • E beads: turquoise/amber
  • 8mm glass beads: turquoise (1 for each big button)
  • Napkin rings (1 for each napkin)
  • ⅛” ribbon to coordinate
  • Embroidery floss
  • Embroidery needle
  • Copper craft wire: 22 gauge
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutters
  • Round nose pliers
  • Hot glue gun and glue (optional)

Instructions:

Placemats:

  1. Stitch ribbon around placemat to form border. Use 3 strands of floss to stitch E beads on top of ribbon.
  2. Cut an 8” length of wire. String ends through both buttonholes of brown button. Twist wires together twice.
  3. String one wire end through large bead. String the other wire end through bead in the opposite direction. Pull snugly to center of button. String 8-9 E beads on each wire. Make curlicues on wire ends.
  4. Stitch button to corner of placemat. Repeat steps 2-4 for another button.

Napkins and Rings:

  1. Repeat placemat step 1 to form border on napkin.
  2. Stitch a small button to each napkin corner.
  3. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to embellish natural wood button. Glue or stitch to napkin ring.
Tips:
  • Refer to photo for placement.
  • These placemats have cutouts where the ribbon was strung. If yours do not, use the embroidery needle to stitch the ribbon through the placemat. Measure in from the placemat edge to keep the line straight.
  • To make wire curlicues, wrap ends to wire around jaw of round nose pliers.
